Sound 101 is a science-based course designed to help you understand sound as physical vibration, nervous system information, and a shared human experience — not as metaphor, performance, or belief. In this course, you’ll learn how sound actually works in the human body: how it travels through air, bone, and tissue; how frequency and loudness affect attention and regulation; and why rhythm, repetition, and predictability matter more than symbolism. You’ll explore how the nervous system responds to sound, why sound sensitivity is not a flaw, and how sound functions across cultures as a tool for coordination and care. This course focuses on sound literacy, not technique. You are not asked to heal, optimize, or perform. Instead, you’ll build accurate mental models of sound so you can make informed, respectful choices in daily life. Sound 101 is ideal for: Curious learners seeking a grounded understanding of sound Neurodivergent and trauma-aware individuals Educators, practitioners, and creatives who want ethical foundations Anyone who wants to relate to sound with awareness rather than control By the end of the course, you will understand sound as: Mechanical vibration and measurable input Whole-body sensory information Nervous system data A patterning and organizing force A shared human tool across cultures A daily environmental factor you can notice and adjust with care Sound 101 prepares you for conscious listening and provides a solid foundation for advanced applied learning, live sessions, and the upcoming Sound 201 course on ethical and intentional sound use.
